Land Rover has introduced the fourth member of the Range Rover family.
Called the Range Rover Velar, the midsize luxury SUV aims to deliver new levels of refinement, elegance and technology to the segment. Like all Range Rover vehicles, the Velar offers exceptional capability on a variety of surfaces, terrains and weather conditions
. The standard coil springs offer 8.38 inches of ground clearance, while the optional four-corner air suspension gives 9.88 inches.
Land Rover says the Range Rover Velar was 'created from a clean sheet using Jaguar
Land Rover’s Lightweight Aluminum Architecture' and represents the next chapter of the automaker’s success story. Its design is the most aerodynamically-efficient Land Rover ever produced, and helping contribute to its coefficient of drag of only 0.32Cd are flush deployable door handles.
The cabin houses a new Land Rover Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, featuring two 10-inch high-definition touchscreens that integrate seamlessly into the cabin architecture to reduce the complexity of the dash. Unique to the segment is a premium textile seat material that is available as an optional alternative to leather.
In the U.S., the Range Rover Velar will launch with several powertrain offerings, with the base model equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 247 horsepower. There is also a four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine offering 180 hp and 317
It seems Range Rover has gone the way of the Murano.... It's convertible. I guess this was something we never knew we needed, but now we have it.
It takes 18 seconds to fold the roof down and 21 seconds to raise, while you're travelling at 30 mph.
Here's what Bharath Autos had to say about the New Range Rover Evoque Convertible:
Land Rover has unveiled the world’s first luxury compact SUV convertible, Range Rover Evoque Convertible. Public debut is scheduled for the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show this-month.
Design-wise, the Evoque Convertible is based on the facelifted 2016 Range Rover Evoque that debuted at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Featuring optional LED head-lamps with the new DRL design, revised bumpers and all-new LED tail-lamps. The convertible gets an exclusive moulded rear spoiler. The interior design too has been carried forward from the standard car.
Under the hood, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible is powered by the 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engines that range between 180 PS or 150 PS, and the 2.0-litre Si4 petrol engine. It is paired to a ZF 9-speed automatic gearbox, and will be equipped with an AWD system with Terrain Response. The most fuel efficient variant delivers a mileage of 19.6 kmpl.
Range Rover Evoque Convertible will enter production at Land Rover’s Halewood facility in the UK alongside the 5-door and coupé body styles. The model goes on-sale from mid-2016 in more than 170 markets worldwide. India is most likely to be one of them.
