Water Collects Under Top of Tailgate

I have a problem with my 2013 Evoque Coupe, U.S. spec, It traps water under a plastic strip running along the entire top side in the hatch door edge under the tailgate. Car washes and rain storms cause the water to collect, sometimes there is more than half a cup of brown water. The water remains under this strip until putting pressure on it releases the water. It appears to me that the strip may be there to deflect water but instead it collects it. My concern is rust and the possibility that the collected water may be slowly running elsewhere under this strip. Has anyone experienced this and is there a Topix bulletin on this problem?

I think on Rangerover.net I started a thread called water pockets. I mentioned the issue without a single response. Each time I go through a car wash or wash it myself on the driveway I lift up the covers over the hinge area in each corner which releases about 1/2 a cup of water from each side. Either manner of car wash I generally wipe everything down including drying all of the rear hatch & door jambs.

Can someone post pictures of where these pockets are. I would like to check this on mine after taking it through for a car wash.

Lift this cover slightly on both sides after a car wash!

I think this is a problem that a lot of Evoque owners have but aren't aware of unless they examine the affected area as it will hold the water and not give you any indication of it unless you press our lift the part. It not just a car wash that causes the water to collect but a heavy rainstorm will do the same.

Found the area but could not figure out how to lift it. There was not a lot of water pooled there after the car wash, so i wiped it away. I have underground parking, so most rain storms do not hit my car anyways. Thanks for pointing this out though.
Now if we could figure out how to stop the water from dripping on you while it is raining and you open the hatch.

An update. The dealership replaced the plastic strip and the water still collects. So it appears there is no fix for the problem other than periodically lifting the strip ends and allowing the water to drain out, sometimes nearly a cup of water. I wonder how many owners never drain the water and what the long term effects will be.
