    Startup Idle Question

Hi all. Have had my Evoque now for a few months and absolutely love it. I do have a quick question though. Whenever I start the Evoque from cold (ie has been sitting for at least 30 mins) my RPM's jump up to 1,500 or so and stays there for about 15-20 seconds. Then it drops down to the normal idle range. Just curious if this is common or if this is something unique to my ride? I know all cars idle high at startup when cold...but this is different as it doesn't start high and then drop slowly as the engine warms. It's high and then right at about 15-20 seconds it drops all the way to normal. I always wait the 15 seconds for the idle to drop down before I put it in gear but was just curious if this is normal or not. If not I will bring it up at my first service which will be coming due here soon.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

1,500 rpm at cold start is higher than mine, which is 1,100-1,200 rpm. I would have it checked.

Don't recall what mine starts up at, but it does idle high for a bit and then settles down.

My cold idle is as stated above then drops to about 900 rpm. 1500 is a bit high...

Great info. Thanks everyone. Glad to know it's not completely abnormal. Maybe a bit high but not completely out of left field either. Makes me feel a little better. I appreciate the feedback.

Checked mine this morning. Idles at 1500rpm for a bit. Then settles down.

Texas cold is a bit LESS cold than norhtern cold. 1500rpm is completely normal for a cold (say 40 or less morning). Even with DI need to heat up catalysts etc.
