You will probably need to contact the toll provider and get a license plate mounted device. Don't know about the garage pass. That would be very annoying.

Will a radar detector work through the heated front glass? Has me wondering now, I have a very good passport detector I was planning to use.

From what I have been reading and gathering, if you have the heated windshield with the solar refective coating, it will not work correctly. My Escort 8500 is not working correctly.

Reading escorts site, they list a lot of windshield brands they do not work with. I am no trying to find out the brand and trade name of the heated windshield on the Evoque.

I can say that my Garmin 760 does not work within my Evoque. I did a test drive about 10 days ago and the only way I could get it to lock on was to hold it out the driver's window! Outside, I had very strong signals. I then brought it into the car and watched the locked on stations rapidly drive to zero. Also my Ezpass does not work as per another driving test.

My vehicle does come with factory GPS so I'm OK there. As to the Ezpass, I'm going to try to mount it on the inside of the moon roof. If it doesn't work there, I guess I'll have to get an Ezpass unit that mounts on the front license plate.

I do have another Garmin 1490 that I want to try because it has "traffic". On another Evoque forum almost 100% of the people who responded to the windshield/GPS question say that their GPS portable units work fine. I know my Nuvi 760 does NOT work. I'm more torqued about the EzPass not working. I read that Range Rover is looking into this problem with a possible fix. Good luck with that happening unless they replace the windshield with a non electrical unit.

Which other evoque forum where people says it works? I am badly in need of a GPS that might work as mine doesn't work. If you know any portable GPS that works on its own i.e without having to have exterior antenna mounting, please let me know.

I don't remember which forum, but there are several posts about this problem. The best solution is to buy the factory GPS. Personally I think ALL factory GPS units I've seen are way overpriced and not nearly as easy to use as my Garmin(s), both of which just don't receive ANY signals if located anywhere on the dashboard or near the front windshield.

A few days ago I did a test to see where it would work inside of my Evoque and I found that I had great signals if I put the GPS inside the small back window behind the 2nd door. I suspect that it would also work anywhere along the long back window on the coupe. Well, that would be nearly useless UNLESS your GPS had an external antenna option. Sadly, most if not all of the recent models from Garmin, TomTom and others have eliminated external antenna options. My Garmin 760 does have the external option, so I plan to buy one on ebay, mount it on the rear quarter window and run the cable up to my dashboard area.

The problem (at least with the 4 door) is the distance from there to the front. Most of these antenna/cable units only have an 8' cable which I think would be fine for the coupe, but not for the 4 door. I did see one on eBay that came with a 15' cable and I'm going to order one today.

If you really needed a portable GPS and you could only get an 8' cable, you could probably make do by mounting it on the window of the backseat door, but it would be a take down put up every time you used it because of use of the doors. And you would have to tell anyone in the backseats to NOT put the window down due to the antenna on the window where as with a longer cable and the antenna mounted behind the second row, it would be a seamless setup.

Mounting the antenna on the moon roof might also be an option, but I think it would look a tad stocky with the wire running across the top of the vehicle. When I receive my external antenna, I try to post here as to how it works.

IMHO, Range Rover gets a BIG thumbs down for putting out a windshield that blocks out most if not all portable GPS units. At the very least, they could have made it clear to anyone buying the vehicle that it would be necessary to get the factory GPS since their Garmins, TomToms and other units were TOAST.

As I said in the other post on this issue. Mine works in CO. It maybe the technology of the toll provider having the issue. Here in Colorado they use a process chip on the back of a sticker so no more big box. No issues with it.
I do have the heated windshield with the UV protection.

Radar detector works minus it's GPS functionality. :-( Also needed to get the front license plate toll pass mount which I attached to the grill with some toggle bolts.
