Vacuum pump leak then rear main seal leak
Have 2012 Evoque that had minor oil leak. Took in and was told vacuum pump was cracked. Had it replaced and the next morning had oil pooling under the car. Took back in and am being told the rear main seal is leaking. $750 repair now looking at $2300 repair. Is it common for rear main seal to fail right after vacuum pump is replaced ? Is this due to uncertified technician? Or an upsell?

Shaljoro, Welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear of your engine issues. The vacuum pump is part of the power braking system. It is driven by the inlet camshaft, and is connected to the rear of the engine cylinder head. It would have nothing to do with the rear main seal. The rear main seal is used to seal the crankshaft where the transmission connects to the engine. I would make doubly sure that it isn't the vacuum pump leaking, due to a bad gasket, messed up when they installed the vacuum pump, as that would show an oil leak at the rear of the engine.
