Evoque - Canada
The all-new Range Rover Evoque is already generating excitement, even though it won't be arriving in Canadian showrooms until October.
Offered in a two-door coupe version and a five-door hatchback, the Evoque is expected to open the brand to new consumers, in particular a much younger crowd .
In Canada, the coupe is expected to initially claim about 30 per cent of sales, and may even compete with true coupes from other manufacturers. More likely, though, the Evoque, which is expected to be priced in the $50,000 range, will be tackling such SUV competitors as the Mercedes GLK, BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
Land Rover considers itself the benchmark brand in the SUV market. As such, it says it has ensured the Evoque -while the most compact product it has ever built -doesn't come up short in key areas of design, capability and versatility.
The Evoque's height is 27 millimetres lower than the LR2, yet it has 10 mm more ground clearance. Inside, the cabin is deceptively spacious.
In Canada, there will be one powertrain offered -a 2.0-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder with twin variable valve timing that generates 240 horsepower at 5,500 r.p.m. The engine is a carry-over from the days when Ford owned Land Rover and it shares turbocharging and direct injection technologies similar to Ford's EcoBoost system. The four-cylinder is coupled to a six-speed automatic in all-wheel-drive format.
The turbo engine is capable of launching the Evoque to 100 kilometres an hour in 7.6 seconds , with a top speed of 217 km/h. Fuel consumption is expected to be about 8.7 litres per 100 km, based on European testing.

I'm looking forward to test driving the Evoque... BUT Mazda has my attention too with the Diesel CX-5 with 310 ft-lb of torque.
Obviously different demographics but it may be worth saving 10-15K buying the Mazda optioned up. ??
I'm with you though, if the CX5 had a diesel I would consider it as well. I had a 2003 Mazda 6s when they first came out and was real happy with it. I've also owned a 93 RX7 Twin Turbo, so Mazda is definitely in my blood lines
Yep the torque number I mentioned is with a 2.2 turbo diesel. looks nice enough.
Wow that looks pretty good!
yep, but unfortunately I got the following response from Mazda.
for taking the time to write to Mazda Canada Inc.
The SKYACTIVE G CX-5 will be availabe in early 2012. A SKYACTIVE D version will not be released for 2012 and unfortunately we cannot confirm its availability in 2013.
I guess Mazda is off my shopping list.
Well that stinks
Ordered a 5 door Evoque in black...expect delivery late next week... hope it lives up to the hype and the "SUV of the year" by Motor Trend.
Car of the Year is sometimes the kiss of death.
We bought a COTY Chevy Malibu and it was a piece of junk... then again it was a GM
lovin every minute with the car.
