Heads up - Saw this over on BabyRR Forum
Reference : R/2012/154
Manufacturer Ref : P031
Make: LAND ROVER
Model : Land Rover Evoque
Launch Date : 11/12/2012
Numbers Involved : 156
Build Start Date : 20/08/2012
Build End Date : 18/09/2012
Concern : STEERING MAY FAIL
Description : The steering rack mounting bolts may not be fully tight. Should the steering gear fixings be below the required torque, the driver would experience, during low speed manoeuvring, abnormal noise and feedback through the steering wheel and at higher speeds some easily corrected minor over steer. Should a driver ignore the warning signs, in extreme cases, both fixings could become sufficiently loose to detach from the vehicle making directional control of the vehicle difficult.
Remedial Action : Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect the steering gear and check that the steering gear mounting fixings are tightened to the correct torque.
Vehicle Id : SALVA2BG0CH704223 to SALVA2AE6DH713526

The recall only applies to UK market cars. For example, SALVA2AE6DH713526 is a Series 2.2 DW12C DIESEL 5DR. Everyone relax.

Thank you for clarification
is my evoque included in this recall, I am not sure of. Vin is salva2aexdh721614 ? Thank you!
You can always go here: Home | Safercar -- National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and look to the right side for safety recalls and drill down. At this moment no 2013 Land Rover vehicles (USA) are list for any recalls. Brake recall on the 2012, however.
In the case of salva2aexdh721614? (Fuji White diesel?) if the VINS given above are correct you are outside the "range".
However, SALVA2BG0CH704223 (from above) appears to be a Chinese vehicle.

Yes, it is correct. How can I know I am outside the range? How is it calculated? Thanks. My evoque is from UK.
If you look at your VIN you can see it does not "fit" within the VIN range given. (Just look at the numbers). If you are still concerned you should call your dealer or Land Rover UK? (704223 - 713526 is the VIN range affected. But according to the LR link above, only 156 cars in that range are affected. Your VIN, 721614 is a much higher number than 713526).
Oh, thank you for explanation I thought also letters were hexadecimal format. Thanks now it is clear!
I wouldn't relax completely... mine is doing this and the dealer said to bring it in immediately. I bought it in Sacramento, CA.
Not true. Mine was doing this and the dealer in Sacramento referenced the recall and fixed it. They said they had seen a couple of Evoques with this same problem. I also had an overtightened cover plate of some kind underneath the car, right under my feet, that made a terrible thumping noise when backing out and turning the steering to the left. All has been repaired, re-tightened, and returned to normal.
