Selecting Neutral With a No Start Condition
This is something has has bothered me since taking delivery of our Evoque. I know this has affected at least one member, that posted his Evoque had to be dragged onto a rollback,
as it wouldn’t start, and so he couldn’t put it into neutral.
I now have the answer, and wanted to share, so others wouldn’t have to endure what Rovingvic did.
This assumes you have battery power. If not, connect up another battery and then follow the procedure.
1. Turn on ignition.
2. Press brake pedal and hold.
3. With brake pedal pressed, pull the + transmission paddle, and hold for more than 10 seconds.
4. The gear selector will rise and you can select neutral.
I have tried this, and it works! Not sure why this isn't in the owner's manual, it should be.

Very good information! Thanks for posting this. I hope I never need it, but I sure will remember this.
You shouldn't have to stop just because the pavement does! 2012 Range Rover Evoque Pure Plus Coupe, 2009 Land Rover LR2 HSE traded, 2008 Land Rover LR2 SE traded.
Good stuff. Thanks Rsquared.
