If you would like to PM me your e-mail address, I can send you some info from the service manual about the camshaft position sensors, and the variable valve timing solenoids, that may help with diagnosing the problem.

Just as a FYI on my earlier post. On my last trip to the dealer the service manager said that they had been seeing some of the same issues with the VVT that I had. My earlier post detailed that had the timing chain come off completely and it required an entire new engine. I had not been aware of any codes or check engine lights. Ran perfect until it blew. Don't know if the solenoids, or associated, could have been the culprit but it seems the dealer has seen more issues (Marin, CA).
Thanks to Rsquared. Very helpful info.

Had similar issue, Prior to taking my 2016 evoque to the dealership I decided to try to repair the problem myself being that It was out of warranty. So did some research, and found that these engines are built by ford and are used in some of thier EcoBoost vehicles. Uppon opening the valve cover I found these, intake cam sprocket was damaged. Which I think was causing that issue. So think that maybe land rover will probably do a goodwill repair. They instead quoted $7650 to replace both vvt sensors, chain, chain guide, chain tensioner and some other sensors. However, they never listed that the cam was the problem until I told them. Then the qoute went upto $13000. So I decided to tackle the repair myself. I will be writing a diy while doing the repair.
