In brief

Three trim levels are available across the range: Pure, Dynamic and Prestige.

The Pure features 17-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, climate control, push-button start, cruise control, rear parking sensors, a 5-inch display in the instrument cluster and seats trimmed in part-leather and part-polyester. On the road, Hill Launch Assist will make manual driving a little easier, while off-road there's Terrain Response and Hill Descent Control. The sound system features a 5-inch display, eight speakers, Bluetooth for hands-free and music streaming and audio controls on the steering wheel.

Dynamic models have 19-inch alloy wheels, a sports body kit and detailing, aluminium pedals and other metal finishings on the inside. There's also an up-spec 380W Meridian audio system with an 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen, 11 speakers and two USB ports.

Prestige variants gain a more restrained exterior, full leather interior with wood highlights, xenon headlights with LED driving lights and the same 380W Meridian sound system. An AU$5900 tech pack for both the Prestige and Dynamic adds navigation with off-road information, a hard disk for storing up to 10 ripped CDs, DVD playback, voice recognition, a powered tailgate and reversing camera.

At launch, all Evoques will come with four-wheel drive, and buyers will have the option of three engines: 110kW (badged TD4) and 140kW (SD4) versions of the company's 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, and a turbocharged 2-litre petrol engine (Si4) with 177kW of power. A six-speed auto can be had on all engines, while the six-speed manual is only available on diesel engine models. Don't tell the old man, but the first front-wheel drive Range Rover will became available in early 2012.

Outlook

The base level TD4 Pure with a manual transmission kicks the party off at AU$53,395. The auto transmission is priced at AU$2480, while stepping up to the Dynamic requires an additional AU$13,000 and the Prestige demands a further AU$2000. The same formula applies to the AU$57,395 manual SD4 and the AU$60,395 auto-only Si4.

The Evoque lands in Australian showrooms in November 2011. Two body styles will be available, a five-door wagon and a three-door that's been cheekily dubbed a "coupe". Just as cheeky, the sexier, less practical three-door is AU$1500 more expensive than the five-door.

Land Rover Australia today announced that new Range Rover Evoque prices will start from $53,395 for a TD4 Evoque Pure (5-door) 6 Speed manual 4WD model.

With a choice of three engines, two body styles, three design themes and a wide range of options and accessories, the new Range Rover Evoque offers customers significant choice across a range of price points. The top-of-the-range Si4 6 Speed automatic Prestige Evoque Coupé is available for $77,395.

The Range Rover Evoque will be offered in both 5-door and Coupé forms and retail deliveries will commence from November 2011. A smooth and refined all turbocharged powertrain line-up is available with a choice of state-of-the-art diesel or petrol engines.

The updated 2.2-litre turbodiesel has 110kW or 140kW derivatives. The 2WD (on-sale early 2012) Coupé version combined with the 110kW 2.2-litre engine is set to achieve sub 130g/km CO2*.

The new 177kW 2.0-litre Si4 petrol engine combines direct fuel injection, turbocharging and twin variable valve timing for exceptional driveability and fuel-efficiency and delivers 0- 100kph in 7.6 seconds*

In place of a traditional trim hierarchy, customers can choose from three distinct design themes, which include many features as standard. A wide range of personalisation opportunities are also available, allowing customers to fully tailor the Evoque to individual tastes and requirements.

Options available include three contrasting roof treatments, seven alloy wheel designs, 16 contrasting interiors and a full sized, fixed, panoramic glass roof.

Body Styles
The Range Rover Evoque is available in two body styles - a Coupé and 5-door. The Coupé provides two individual rear seats, with the no cost option of three-seat bench if preferred.

The Evoque 5-door extends the appeal of the model even further by offering greater practicality and family appeal. The roofline stands 30mm higher than the Coupé, which delivers extra head and shoulder room for rear seat passengers. Smart Efficient use of space - Range Rover Evoque 5 Door with a panoramic sunroof has equivalent headroom to a Range Rover Sport.

Powertrains
The Range Rover Evoque is available with a choice of all turbocharged powertrains, both petrol and diesel with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, and, for the first time in a Range Rover, the option of 2WD (front wheel drive) as well as 4WD.

The engine, transmission, drive and design theme combinations available are as follows:

- eD4 diesel 110kW 6-speed manual 2WD (Pure, Prestige, Dynamic) - available from 2012
- TD4 diesel 110kW 6-speed manual 4WD (Pure, Prestige, Dynamic)
- TD4 diesel 110kW 6-speed automatic 4WD (Pure, Prestige, Dynamic)
- SD4 diesel 140kW 6-speed manual 4WD (Pure, Prestige, Dynamic)
- SD4 diesel 140kW 6-speed automatic 4WD (Pure, Prestige, Dynamic)
- Si4 petrol 177kW 6-speed automatic 4WD (Pure, Prestige, Dynamic)Design themes

In place of the conventional equipment grade hierarchy, three defining design themes have been developed for the Evoque: Pure, with a contemporary feel; Prestige, which majors on luxury and Dynamic, which embraces a bold and sporting character.

Each theme has a distinct appeal in terms of exterior styling, interior appointments and equipment specifications, which offer the highest level of on-board comfort, entertainment, communications and convenience.

PURE
Evoque Pure is the purest expression of the original LRX concept. On the outside it is distinguished by a black Evoque tailgate badge, high-gloss black detailing across the tailgate and along the waistline, with a dark 'Atlas' finish to the grille and eye-catching side fender blades and, on the Coupé, bonnet louvres. As standard, Pure models will come with 17-inch Sparkle Silver alloy wheels and LED front fog lamps.

Inside, the seats are finished in part Leather/Dinamica® a material made from 100% recycled polyester, and satin brushed aluminium is used for the centre console trim. Highlights of the standard equipment, 5" colour audio display with 8 speaker sound system, 5" colour TFT Driver Information Centre , climate control air conditioning, push-button start, BluetoothTM for mobile phone connection and audio streaming and an Oxford Leather steering wheel with controls for phone, audio and cruise control.

The handling and safety systems include Hill Launch Assist, rear parking sensors and, on 4WD versions, Terrain ResponseTM to set up the vehicle for different off-road environments, and Hill Descent Control.

PRESTIGE
Luxury informs every element of the Evoque Prestige models, from the exterior bright 'Atlas' detailing, silver Evoque tailgate badge and 19-inch Diamond Turned alloy wheels, to the fine Oxford full leather interior in a selection of warm and inviting colour schemes with a selection of real wood finishers, tailored carpet mats and chrome tread plates. Prestige models benefit from xenon headlamps with signature LED lighting.

Similarly, the equipment specification delivers the highest quality features, with an 8" high resolution touchscreen that controls a 380W Meridian Sound system with 11 speakers and 2 USB ports. The screen also allows control of the customer configurable interior mood lighting which can change colour and intensity.

DYNAMIC
The Dynamic theme adds a real sporting presence to Evoque with the addition of deeper body colour sills and bumpers the rear incorporating a unique exhaust treatment, blackfinished mirrors, grille and side fender blades and red Evoque tailgate badge are all exclusive to the design theme. Add 19-inch Sparkle Silver alloys to the mix and there is no mistaking that the Evoque Dynamic means business.

Inside the cabin detailed touches reinforce the theme with aluminium pedal covers, a textured metal finish to the centre console and perforated leather around the steering wheel and (manual) gearshift. The striking exterior of the Dynamic is complemented by a range of bold interior colour schemes. In addition to these features the Dynamic models are equipped with the same levels of in car entertainment system as the Prestige model.

For even sharper ride and handling Adaptive Dynamics is also available as an option for all SD4 and Si4 Prestige and Dynamic models at a cost of $1,950.

Dynamic Plus Pack
Taking the dynamic theme to the nth degree the Dynamic Plus pack introduces a premium sports interior with one piece sports seats, premium quality leathers and special metal finishers. In a choice of 2 interior themes Velocity (Ebony) or Agility (Red) these themes provide another level of emotion when driving. In addition the seats are heated and have 8/8 way adjustment including memory and an Ebony headliner to finish this dramatic statement.

Dynamic Plus Pack is only available on Dynamic models and has an additional charge of $7,200

Pure with Tech Pack
Many of the key technology features available in the range have been brought together in a Tech Pack to enhance the Pure theme even further. The pack includes the following additional features:

- 8" high resolution touchscreen
- 380 watt Meridian sound system
- Audio connectivity system
- Customer configurable interior mood lighting
- Pure Grained full leather seats
- Carpet mat set
- 18" Style 2 Sparkle Silver Alloy Wheels

Opting for the Tech Pack represents excellent value, adding just $4,500 to the standard Pure prices.

Prestige and Dynamic Tech Pack
The Tech Pack for Prestige and Dynamic models is also available and offers greater convenience, on-board entertainment and safety. It introduces the following items:

- HDD Premium navigation system including 4x4 information
- Hard disc drive audio server for 10 CD storage and DVD play
- Say what you see voice control
- Headlamp power wash
- Power Tailgate
- Illuminated Treadplates
- Loadspace stowage rails
- Front Parking Aid
- Rear view camera including hitch guidance
- Advanced climate control with air filtration, air quality sensor and automatic recirculation

The Tech Pack for Prestige and Dynamic models costs an extra $5,900

I just find the australian pricing so ridiculous. In the sense that if you want a really decent car with good options.. automatic transmission.. you're looking at $90k driveaway for a car that's the size of a Volkswagen Tiguain.

I really want one and I believe I will end up getting one just based on the fact that it is simply beautiful. But wow oh wow $90k for a Prestige Automatic with a tech pack. for an extra $15k you could get a TDV6 Range Rover Sport. Its just that i'm trying really hard to justify that price mainly based on the size. Agreed i'm not going to get the extras for the RR Sport for an extra $15k, but it still just seems like... for a much more spacious car... an extra $15k may be worth it.

Yes everyone will argue it depends on what one's needs are like space etc... I agree.. but in terms of simple logic, a car the size of a RAV4 or VW Tiguain - priced at 90K... just seems a little over the top.

Having said all that - I'm going to Land Rover on Saturday just to see if i can book one. lol.

To be honest I was really excited about the Evoque until I heard the pricing. For about the same price is what you can get a Range Rover Sport for, I'd much rather have the Sport. I guess only time will tell and I'll have to see the Evoque in person to make the judgement call.

Haha I hear ya! The other bummer to me is that I don't believe the US is getting the diesel version. That would be my only engine of choice as you get everything with it - fuel economy, power and towing capability.

yeah I didnt understand that either! ideally the only automatic is in petrol and is only available at the highest level! C'mon Land Rover Australia!! you know the car is going to be successful here just bring the diesel in!!

i just know that 6 months down the line with the 2-wheel drive version arrives they will bring in the diesel - and a waiting list for another year for that... why oh why luxury car tax and import tax... whyyyy!

For some reason auto manufacturers still think that car buyers don't want diesels. We do want them and those that don't, just don't know that they want them. They need produce them and then educate everyone on the benefits!

Very cool! Man that Prestige is quite the price jump...yikes!
