I know very little about cars so please stick with me. Yesterday I noticed my car was having a hard time picking up speed. When I press the gas it starts having trouble around 30mph. It won’t go above 4000 rpm. It doesn’t make loud noises like the engine is reviving… but I didn’t push it too hard… just doesn’t seem to want to go. Eventually it will get going to 70mph. Speed decreases when I’m going uphill. This morning the transmission light came on. It’s not blinking just staying on. I’m not driving it anymore. Going to take it to get looked at this weekend. Just wasn’t sure if anyone had an ideas on what could be going on.

Hi Nikki,
I had similar to this, I took the Mass Air Sensor out & sprayed it with the Mass Air Sensor spray, not Carburettor cleaner or degreaser.
I also stopped buying cheap Diesel & the problem cleared its self.

Anyone who owns a modern car w/ an OBD11 port should invest in an OBD11 reader. Plug it in, get the code from the cars' computer, then you'll have a good idea of where the problem lies.
100% correct. With our modern cars, having a zillion sensors, and a zillion things that can go wrong, and with machinics (especially at dealers) charging a zillion dollars for doing simple jobs, I HAVE NO IDEA how anybody goes without a top end fault code reader, specfic for rover, which not only reads OBDII fault codes, but gives you detailed information what is wrong. I have been a Rover owner for 70+ years; I have for years said that you should not own a Rover, unless you are able to work on them yourself, and know how to use scanner, such as I am talking about, OR unless you have deep pockets, so you can hire others to do that work for you.
