Took my Evoque to the dealership, was told I need a new turbocharger and it would cost 10K. Doesn't sound right, and the mechanic didn't seem like he wanted to take the time to pinpoint the issue. Should I do the work myself, find another dealership/shop, ideas on the best place to buy online a new turbocharger? HELP!

Do you know what the code is? It could be a number of things. They could have left off or incorrectly hooked up a vacuum line, they could have left the connector off of the vacuum solenoid, they could have not adjusted the wastegate actuator arm to close the wastegate at the same vacuum as the previous one and resulting in over or under boost. I got a code a few weeks after I replaced mine and it was because I had pushed on the connector for one of the O2 sensors but not all the way until it latched. After a few weeks of driving the connector had vibrated loose. Do you still feel like you have full power?
Also, I don't have a scanner to read the codes. Maybe I should invest one.

Yes the car is running great. I thought I could still hear a little whinning noise when I first start it up but it went away after a few seconds. Not sure what the code is. Wow sounds like it could be a number of things, I thought the on-off 20 times might reset it but no its still on.

My 2015 was done for free about six months ago apparently there is a recall. Look it up.
I looked up any recalls and only found this:
16V-614 / P091 Recall Summary
Insufficient wiring crimps in the transmission wire harness may cause the transmission to shift into neutral unexpectedly while driving.

No turbocharger recall. If you have the information can you share it?

Thats CRAZY!!!
First of all, stating a mileage if asking a technical question should be a must. may be Admins can add a little banner-reminder for everybody.
How many miles on your Evoque? Assuming owner keeps up with good quality oil changes, these turbochargers can last well in to 150K. What is the issue with the Turbocharger? Did they elaborate? or just said "give us 10K"?
76K miles, and not sure about quality oil changes? I use Oil Changers. The car makes a whinning noise when you accelerate. And they only said its the turbocharger, needs replaced, 10K and that's about it.

Oh sorry, the car has around 76K miles. And the mechanic didn't give me any codes so not sure if he just didn't want to do the work? I filed a complaint with Range Rover/Land Rover, not sure what good that will do.
