2015 Evoque TurboCharger replacement cost 10K

Back in 19 I was quoted $4k for the dealer to replace my turbo. I have heard of people being quoted more than that but never as much as $10k. I purchased one with a cast iron manifold (so it wouldn't crack again) for about $1k (you can get them cheaper) and replaced it myself. I purchased and installed a lift ($2k) and spent $1k on the turbo. So I saved $1k, got a lift out of it, and I have a turbo that should last longer than the Land Rover one. A lift makes it easier but many have done it without one. It isn't a trivial job but it is far from being difficult if you are a competent mechanic.

I have the 2015 LR Service manual and if you decide to do it yourself I can send you the section that covers the turbo replacement if you want. The manual used to recommend taking off the bottom subframe which is fairly involved, but now the manual details removing it from the top of the engine. I took my exhaust and driveshaft off along with the right wheel well and brought it out the back. But I have heard of some removing it from the right wheel well just using jack stands.
Hi , I have a 2016 Evoque with a crack in the manifold and will need the turbo replaced with it. Would you mind sharing where you found a cast manifold/turbo for $1K? I also need a due pump and catalytic converter. Thank you! Kathy @ camphalifax@gmail.com
