I have 30,000 miles on my 2016 I haven't had any failures but I don't like its reluctance to downshift as it should. I don't read much about this as I believe 2016 is the first year for the 9 speed. It likes to bog out of corner. When I have the time and the right road the paddle shifting is so much better. It shows what it could be capable of.

Last week, it held in 1st (or 2nd, dunno) gear up until over 5,000 RPMs, with minimal throttle input. I used manual shifting to get it out of that stuck mode and I haven't had an issue since.

I just towed a heavy trailer (3,500lbs) over 500 miles in hot, uphill, high speed, strenuous conditions- and the tranny seems to be working fine. ??? Hopefully, just a temporary hiccup.

I have a 2014 Evoque and the transmission failed one month out of warranty after I had previous taken it in for gearbox errors. Come to find out that this model has a horrible history of transmission issues.

There have been recalls in the US and elsewhere over gearbox issues. https://www.cars.com/articles/recall-alert-2014-2015-land-rover-range-rover-evoque-2015-discovery-sport--1420690457209/

Land Rover is refusing to cover it right now and I am fighting it and will keep you posted. I'm considering a class action lawsuit so anyone else with similar issues feel free to contact me.

In China they issued an extended warranty of the gearbox to 7 years on affected vehicles.

I expect no less on vehicles issued in other countries as well.
