looking at buying a 2019 Evoque but all the articles I read say the Evoque is very unreliable, expensive to fix etc

I love the car and want to be convinced to ignore the sensible advice

They are expensive to fix, but cheaper than a Mercedes, BMW, AUDI, AM, etc. I think it's all luck of the draw. My 2014 is still running well, although I only have 53K miles on it. I did have the turbo replaced at 40K, that was the only bad thing that has happened. When looking into the European/British marques, you won't find the reliability of say, a Toyota Corolla. All new cars are full of electronics which are prone to act up. When you look at it that way, it makes it easier to dive in. Good luck in your search.
