When I was driving the other day a Kia Soul pulled up next to me and I started thinking about the Evoque body lines. Anyone else see a similarity?
Glad you noticed it, since I saw the Evoque concept car (LRX concept) in 2008 I saw the similarities .... hard not to notice since they are both unique form factors, just a bit of history-

Kia Soul concept design (2005) by Mike Torpey
Kia Soul concept (2006)
LRX concept design (2007?) Gerry McGovern "design group"
The world debut of the LRX concept (Evoque) January 2008
Kia Soul'ster Concept (2009)
Kia Soul Denim (2009-) limited production of 1,200
Kia Soul USA 2010

Production of the Evoque started on 4 July 2011

Having said all of this I was pleasantly surprised when Land Rover paid homage to a brilliant design. Very impressive development of the form factor in an elegant vehicle.

Maybe a bit if you squint ;)
Squint just a bit harder, your eyes will close completely...C'mon, enough small SUVs look enough alike that you could convince me just about any two have something in common. You wouldn't be on this forum or be reading these words if you really thought the Evoque looked that much like a Kia. You'd be on the sorrento forum, or whatever.

You have to be either kidding or blind ... enough people see the design and some just are design challenged, nothing to be ashamed of but not something to shout from the hills either.

The only reason I gave a rat's a** was someone who did see the "deign clues" was under the assumption the Evoque preceded the KIA as pointed out in the creation history it's just not the case, if you have something to say about who took what from who I'm interested, if you just post to hear yourself sound foolish I couldn't care less. So get glasses or a sense of design or not- no skin off my a**.

BTW my Evoque is beautiful and I bought it because of the design and if I was a kid who couldn't afford much I'd have jumped on the KIA Soul ... for the design.

Wow, when you're right, you're right, Will. And clearly, you're right.

Sarcasm duly noted as in your other posts ... I'm sure your mom thinks you are adorable why not keep it to your primary audience.
Not sure what I did to make you so angry, will. It seems you lack either intelligence or a sense of humor (both?) my point with my first post on this thread was a serious one. That the similarities between the Evoque and the Soul could likely be convergent evolution rather than divergent. Don't be embarrassed if you have to look up what that means:)

My wife kids me that my Evoque is just an over priced KIa Soul...

....she chooses to drive a SOUL (I am somewhat embarassed), but her car comes better equipped and she could buy three or four of hers to each one of mine... same sloping roofline, better milage, better handling in the KIa I must admit.

But i won't be trading my Evoque for a Kia any day soon.

My borther as a Kia Soul and the front end looks good, I do admit, but the rear end looks off. The newest one that will be coming out late 2012/2013 I think improves on the design slightly.

I dunno about the kia handling better though, it is lighter and is a different segmant of vehicle thus getting better MPG but yeah it's still a looker.

Kinda weak in the engine department though but it's very 'youthful' haha

Wouldn't trade the Evoque for it though.

Kia is not bad looking. However I never even considered it. I do not seem them as competators or in the same class.

Really seems to me as if the Evoque is in a class by it's self. I do not think there is a Cross over SUV that is near as capable off road as the Evoque. Only a few can offer a ride and handling as good as the Dynamic, and those can not go off road like the Evoque can. Very few offer the interior refinement that the Evoque does. Nothing in the Cross over or SUV market looks as good as the Evoque.

The Evoque in Dynamic mode drives and handles more like a sport sedan than a SUV. Yet I would put it up against any Cross over or direct competator off road.

I think the Sportage looks more similar than the Soul, to be honest.

Yeah, I actually think the Explorer is pretty cool-looking...And every time I see a new Taurus, I can't help but think the headlights and surrounding grille, etc. look like the Evoque- Again, I think it is a design trend in lots of vehicles. But of course, it is the whole package that makes the Evoque so striking, not just these similarities!

The new ford explorer is close too
I think it is closer than the Kia.

The new explorer is a good looking SUV. However again I have not seen anything in the SUV or cross over market that is close to as eye catching as the Evoque.
