I picked up my Evoque last night! However, I was told that if I'm within 36" of the door and the key is in my purse, that the door will automatically unlock when I go to open the door. I was also told that if the key is in my purse, all I need to do to LOCK the car is swipe my finger across the driver's door handle.

Neither feature is working. The only way I can lock or unlock the vehicle is by pushing the unlock/lock button on the key itself.

Any advice/help? Do I need to set this up myself somehow in order for it to work?​

Hi Courtney, congrats on the Evoque! With the car locked and the key in your purse place your hand behind the handle and the car should unlock as you pull the handle. To lock, simply close the door and touch the side of the handle between where the two raised lines are. If these processes don't work try placing the smooth side of the Fob under the cutout under the steering wheel then repeat the unlock and lock process. If that doesn't work try the other Fob. If no luck I would be suspect of the Fob batteries or it's a service issue. Good luck!
