Before I take to mechanic, any advice on why I have HUGE plumes of white smoke coming out of exhaust pipes when starting engine. They die down after I drive. It happened twice this week and not every at every start up. Smells like sulfur.
2013 Evoque. I don’t have warranty to I’m paying cash for the fix. Thanks!

White smoke is coolant burning in the engine. You might have a leak in a gasket when cold that is sufficiently sealed when heated up.

Generally a sign of the head gasket failing.
Take the oil filler cap off & look at the underneath of it. If there is a build up of “gunge” then it’s definitely water in the oil, so new head gasket required.

Not something to wait until later. Should your head gasket fail entirely, water in the cylinders turns to steam, and as we all know from school, water does not compress, which means your conrods and valve stems can bend. Basically meaning you need a new engine,
