I was washing my car earlier today and noticed something a bit odd. The panel gap between the bottom of the hood and the top of the headlamp assembly was not the same between the left and right side of the car.

If you put your finger inbetween the two and run it the length of the headlamp, you can definitely get almost a finger in on the left side (facing the car) and nothing in on the right side.

Looking at the placement of the headlamp in relation to the front bumper, I can tell the left side is recessed into the car 2-4mm, resulting in the greater gap with the hood.

Now I know not every piece that rolls off the assembly line will be identical, but it would seem this level of discrepancy would be out of tolerance ... if they even check for such a tolerance. How does your Evoque stack up?

Did you buy your car new? Any body work in its life?
Yup, bought the car new. No bodywork - no accidents. No frame damage either I had the car looked over yesterday. If this is the build quality I can expect, I fear for what the years out of warranty bring. Between this and the creaking doors...

Im not sure if this is related, but, at TOIPIX, there is an item listed in "What's New": SSM64957 Body Panel Gap/Flushness Issues. You may want to ask your dealer if this applies to your Evoque.

Remember though, TOPIx is for all LR and Jag cars.
