Has anyone had any luck hardwiring a radar detector in their Evoque? I have the Escort 9500ix that was hardwired in my Infiniti and am anxious to try it out in my new Evoque. I am worried about the heated windshield interfering with the radar/GPS but won't know for sure until I give it a try.

mine has the 9500ci built in, but I hear mixed reviews from people about it working or not. My system uses a GPS antenna mounted at the bottom of the front windshield and it picks up the signal fine, but the radar antennas are external so not sure about those. I was reading somewhere that giving more space between the glass and the detector helps with less signal interference so try and mount it as far back in it's cradle as you can. If you have one of those "your speed is" signs around it would be helpful in testing.

Infunus,

If the front glass has metal in it, it will effect the radar.
Yes, so if you have the radar jammed right up against the glass it will give more interference than if you place it further back, the closer it is to the metal heating elements in the windshield the worse it gets.

well wat I am saying is that radar detection can be affected by metal so by putting a radar detector behind glass that has metal you may loose range
