Land Rover has few peers among SUV makers; few brands offer the same combination of luxury and off-road capability. The new crossover SUV by the brand, the Range Rover Evoque, has made a strong start in sales.
Global orders up for Land Rover and Jaguar
Land Rover and Jaguar are owned by Tata Motors, the Indian car company that makes the Nano. Tata, according to BusinessWeek, is reporting global sales of Jaguar and Land Rover have increased this year. In December, global deliveries of Jaguars and Land Rovers were up by 45 percent; 30,981 units were delivered that month. In the U.S., according to Land Rover’s media page, 4,743 Land Rovers sold in that month. Land Rover ended the year with 38,099 units sold in the U.S. Tata is reporting global sales are rising on the back of the new Evoque (pronounced “evoke”) crossover SUV, which, according to Land Rover, has gotten off to a decent start for a luxury crossover SUV, selling 2,244 units in the first three months it has been on sale in the United States. Tata, according to BusinessWeek, received 32,000 orders for it globally during that time.
