Hey guys, I am new to the forum.

Looking for some adivce. I have seen people having problems with their transpoders due to heated windshield. Where do you guys place the transponder so it works every time. I was thinking about the panoramic roof but somebody said it doesnt work sometimes and I dont wish to get fined for that.

Any advice would be welcome.

I thought of all these options, and the panoramic roof is not a good place either, even though it will work, but you have to be careful when you close the shade!

The solution was to call the eZpass in NY and have them send me a transponder that goes in the front license plate, it works perfectly well and looks very stealth as well.

If they ask you WHY, explain that your vehicle has a HEATED windshield and your transponder do not work all the time, they will send it for free.

Thanks braz. I guess I will have to call the GA highway people to see if they have such a thing. I drive with the shade open so I dont think it will be a problem to have it in the panoramic roof. Still I wanna make sure it works all the time.

License Plate-Transsponder.jpg
I spoken to a Friend in GA and they do have the front license plate transponder.
This is how it looks like.
By the way, if you are concerned with someone removing it and misusing it, remember that that is registered to your vehicle so you would not be hold accountable for misuse, and plus, for safety, instead of using the license plate screws, I bought a special screw set (two) for USD 4.50 (Four Dollars and fifty cents) and it comes with a special alen tool to tide them in (don't loose the alen as it has a hole in it) so that would make it almost impossible to remove it from the license plate.

Take care and best regards,
Enjoy the week ahead.

Thanks braz, I will do check with the GA toll people to get mine hopefully soon. Its pretty bad having to look around the house for quarters and dimes in the morning before going to work.

I mounted mine between the hood and hood liner. I did it in my previous corvette from a forum member recommendation and it worked well. I haven't been on the tollway yet but will report back to see if it works on the Evoque. Here's a pic of the corvette owner mounting his:

Went through the tollway this weekend andl looks like placing the transponder under the hood doesn't work on the Evoque.

Just curious....has anyone tried holding the transponder up to the pano roof to see if it works? I rather do that everytime I pass a toll than get the ugly license plate transponder.

I called LR USA and they advised they've had several customers complaints already about the EZ Pass/IPass transponders not working through the solar glass. She advised LR is trying to work on a solution but their recommendation is to get the front license plate transponder. Hopefully there will be a solution other than the license plate transponder.

And what would that be? Knocking the windshield out and replacing it with a non metal windshield? Perhaps they could come up with a small area on the windshield that is metal free, but that won't help anyone who has one of the present windshields. I'm buying a bumper mount. I don't think they're ugly, and certainly not as butt ugly as the standard RR trailer hitch that I had installed.

If you can believe it, it's actually uglier than the RR picture of the unit above. It looks like something on a Red Neck hay wagon. I can only assume that RR didn't think anyone who wanted an Evoque would be interested in towing. The really ugly part is the electrical plug on the left. I should have gone with the Red Neck "hanging" wire option. On the other hand, having this crap hanging out the back makes it looks a little like I get down and dirty occasionally with my Evoque.

That is pretty ugly. It must have designed the hitch last minute on a friday before closing. :D

I have been holding mine up to the glass above my head and it seems to work. I tried that after a few failed attempts at windshield placement- even off to the far side without the heater elements. I don't like to run front plates so the bumper mount isn't an option for me. I wonder if i can hide it behind the grille? Might depend on the toll system and transponder strength for different interior locations.

Have you checked out Execuhitch in Georgia. They have a fancy hitch that disappears when not in use. I believe they were supposed to meet with the Rover people to try to make it OEM.

We have a transponder up here for a Freeway I take often, and usually I need to open my window on the driver side for it to get picked up. It's so embarrassing for sure. Especially in the winter, but the transponders are already weak much less inside the RRE.

You can mount it behind front grill with electricians tie wraps. It works great and is not visible.
