I was just wondering if anyone here has been in contact with this firm?

Most definitely. The Ford Escape has the same turbo, but a different manifold and I don't think I have heard of anyone having a failure on those. I'm sure it has happened, but with the Evoque it seems they all fail before 100k miles.
Did it already fail?

Jaguar Land Rover Escapes Lawsuit Alleging Defective Turbochargers

I too have a junk turbo, 15 evoque, 100k kms
It looks like it did. That is too bad.

Mine is done at 100k kms. Not too stoked.
I'll be going with turbo parts Canada cast manifold.
Being that they haven't addressed the issue, it's bound to happen again using oem land rover parts.

I have a 2013 Evoque with a turbo that failed at 46,000 miles (out of warranty, purchased used) at a cost of $4,200.00 for the replacement that Land Rover only gave a 1 year warranty! A previous class action suit failed because of vehicles being out of warranty. However, Land Rover knows of these failures, but continue to sell vehicles without changing the manifold to the stronger after-market material. Hopefully a new lawsuit will be successful for us.
I had a call from the law firm seems like I can only participate if I still own my evoque. unfortunately I sold it not long ago

I used the contact form on the website.
They have already sent me an email and will call.
There must still be some sort of suit going forward.
If you have an evoque, have had to replace turbo/manifold assembly, get in touch with them.
a slightly different issue but I figured it is related enough to post here

Only in USA.
I'm in Canada, so no help.
Hope it goes through though and Land rover has some sort of accountability

mine failed right at 100k

how hard is it to replace this?? i have can replace external parts from the engine, just unsure if this is more complicated than nuts, bolts, wiring and lots of elbow grease
I haven't done mine yet. I just keep clearing the codes and low power for now.

Book I believe is 8.25 hours.
I've seen three different ways to change it out.

I'm going to try from the top. Looks like a lot of room after firewall out.

And I'll use turbo parts Canada cast manifold rather than another Landover part that has obvious issues that Landover refuses to address.

The manifold is junk. It's not the turbo that's failing.

Last thing we need is a bunch of ambulance chasers in on the act. Even if they win which is an even bet buy the time they extract their cut up to 60% owners will get little pay out.
Best solution is to owners on mass get the local salesman exciting with prospect of sale then pullout citing the the turbo issue s load of lost sales will get their attention quicker the a bunch of lawyer’s in the USA

The TP Canada guy used to not really give a recommendation, but he now recommends to go in from the top. The older service manual (2011-2012) said to remove the subframe and go in from the bottom, but the 2015 LR service manual says to go in from the top. I have a lift and removed the driveshaft and exhaust and had plenty of room from the rear. After giving some tips/advice to some people that were doing it from the top, I think I would probably go in from the rear again if I ever had to do that job again. But if I didn't have a lift, I might consider the top. I just think a few things are a bit difficult to access when going in from the top, but I can't say for sure since I have never done that. It sure would be nice to not have to remove the driveshaft. And yes, it is the manifold, but I think LR only sells them together as a unit.

I agree that lawyers get most of the money and owners would get very little, but imo a class action lawsuit would get the attention of LR much more than trying to organize individuals to take quite a bit of their time to go in and act like they are going to buy and then pull out. You would need a massive amount of people for that to filter up to Land Rover, and I think we would be hard pressed to get 100 people all over the world to do it.

My turbo had to be replaced in my 2014 Evoque @ 47k miles. Fortunately, it was covered under warranty.
Is the lawsuit basically for anyone that had to pay to replace their turbo because it wasn’t under warranty?
